  • Q: Why should I register?

  • Q: When is the Furry Scurry?

    The Furry Scurry is on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Washington Park in Denver. The fun begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until noon. Event-day registration opens at 7:30 a.m.

  • Q: What is the registration fee for the Furry Scurry?

    Pre-Event Registration
    * Adult Registration: $50
    * Youth Registration (14 & younger): $25

    Event Day Registration:
    * Adult Registration: $55
    * Youth Registration (14 & younger): $30

  • Q: If I have registered and am walking my dog, is it OK if my spouse comes along?

    Registration for the event is per person, not per dog, so if your spouse or other family member wants to walk with you, registration is necessary.

  • Q: What is a Furry Scurry Team?

    A Furry Scurry team is made up of at least four people who are working together toward a fundraising goal. The more people on your team, the more you are able to help the animals in our care. Fundraising prizes are based on the individual team members totals, not the total of the team. However, members of teams of four or more people will receive a special team-only prize. There are also other great perks for forming a team, such as receiving VIP treatment at the event that includes a teams-only area with refreshments and a chance to take a commemorative photo. You may also compete to receive additional awards including Top Dog Team, Largest Canine Crew and the Spirit Award.

  • Q: I want to form a Furry Scurry team. What is the registration fee per member?

    Same as registering without a team, but includes all the perks of being on a team listed above! Pre-event registration for the event is $50 per adult team member and $25 per youth (14 and under). Event day registration for the event is $55 per adult team member and $30 per youth (14 and under).

  • Q: Is my Furry Scurry registration fee tax deductible?

    Unfortunately, no. The Internal Revenue Service considers entry fees for charitable races and walks to be similar to tickets to sports games, gala events or theater performances—it is the price paid for attending and participating. Since it is considered an entertainment fee, it is not tax deductible. However, although the registration fee is not tax deductible, anything donated above and beyond that fee is. Also, any donation made to support a Furry Scurry participant is tax deductible. 

  • Q: Where is parking available?

    Parking is available on the streets surrounding the park, but there is no parking on Franklin Street. There is also parking at South High School, Wash Park United Methodist, Wash Park United Church of Christ and Epiphany Lutheran Church. Parking is not allowed on any side streets with designated permit-only parking signs. Parking and event maps

  • Q: How long is the walk?

    The Furry Scurry is a two-mile walk.

  • Q: What else can I do at the Furry Scurry? 

    You can watch the RUFF Flyball Club and the Colorado Disc Dogs demonstrate their skills. Enter our Pet/Person Look-alike, Best Trick and Best Tail Wagger contests. Your dog may also try out an agility course or lure coursing. The event sponsors will be giving away samples of their products and fun items for your pets. Plus, you can shop for pet-related products and services for people offered by more than 150 vendors. 

  • Q: When may I pick up my incentives?

    The Furry Scurry T-shirt and race bib will be available at the Pickup Expo at South High School (1700 E Louisiana Ave, Denver, CO 80210) along with other earned incentive items. The expo will be on April 29 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This will be the only opportunity for pre-event pick up. Incentive items may also be picked up at the Furry Scurry in the main registration area (if you are an individual participant) or the team area (if you are a member of a team).

  • Q: How is the money I raise used?

    The money raised goes directly to helping the homeless animals in our care. We care for more than 20,000 cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils and other small pets each year, in addition to dozens of abused and neglected horses.

  • Q: I’m a cat lover. Do I have to bring a dog to walk or may I come by myself?

    You don’t have to walk a dog in order to participate in the event. We welcome cat lovers! You might consider walking in honor of your cat by pinning a photo of your cat to your shirt. Better yet, start a team on behalf of felines and invite your friends and family to join! 

  • Q: What is the deadline for turning in my donations?

    All of the money you raise needs to be turned in by June 6, 2017.

  • Q: What if I am not able to pick up my incentives on event day?

    It is highly recommended that you pick up your incentives on event day to ensure you receive your desired size of any clothing items you have earned. If you are unable to pick up your items on event day, please call Shannon Sprock at (720) 241-7082 to arrange a pickup time at the Quebec Street Shelter. Incentives are only available before event day at the pick up party the weekend before Furry Scurry. Details of the party will be sent to your email closer to the event.

  • Q: Where do I send cash donations that I have collected?

    We have several options for you to turn in your donations: You may turn in your donations the day of the Furry Scurry in the registration area; mail the donations to our Quebec Street Shelter at 2080 S. Quebec St., Denver, CO 80231 along with the donor’s information, noting that you are a Furry Scurry participant; or drop the donations off to either our Quebec Street Shelter or Buddy Center shelter(4556 Castleton Court, Castle Rock, CO 80109) location. All donations turned in to the Dumb Friends League will be credited to your participant center.
