Cat Workshops and Classes

CLICKS & TRICKS

It is a common belief that cats cannot be trained, but through Clicks & Tricks, you will learn otherwise. This is a four week class for any age cat older than 13 weeks and their owners. During the first week cat owners learn about litter-box problem prevention, destructive scratching prevention, toys and activities, and typical cat behaviors and issues.

For the remaining three classes, feline students are encouraged to attend. With the guidance of knowledgeable staff, owners teach their cats how to sit on command, rollover, give a “high five” and stand up on their hind legs, among other advanced behaviors. Cost for the four-week session: $40

Clicks & Tricks is held from May to December.

Cats 101

Whether you are adopting your first cat or you have lived with cats your whole life, this class has something for you. Fascinating cat facts, key components for making cats happy, cat toys and playtime, litter-box problem prevention and destructive scratching prevention are among the topics covered. This class is filled with useful tips, visual aides, introductions to products and resources for even the savviest cat lover.
Cost: $10.

KITTEN KINDERGARTEN

This is a three-week class for kittens ages 8 to 13 weeks and their owners. The first orientation (without kittens) to the first class covers litter-box problem prevention, destructive scratching prevention and coping with normal rough play. Weeks two and three (with kittens) provide the opportunity for socialization with other kittens, new people and new environments in a controlled and positive manner.

Kitten Kindergarten participants practice nail-trimming skills and teaching kittens to accept handling and restraint. They also learn to desensitize their kittens to the carrier. For added fun, we teach the kittens to come when called, sit and give a “high five.” Classes include playtime and information about typical cat behavior. Cost for the three-week session: $30.

Kitten Kindergarten is held from April to November.

Cats 201

During this informational session, cat owners will learn how to clicker train their cat(s) through demonstrations, videos and workshop exercises. Participants will also receive great tips and resources from seasoned behavior specialists. Cost: $10
