Best friends seeking home with cat and dog lover On a warm day in July, two best friends were found in a Denver-area park. Despite weeks on the streets, Jessie—a 2-year-old short-haired calico—and Molly—a 7-year-old beagle/pug mix—never left each other’s side. Temporary homes needed Currently, there are more than 1,000 animals at our two shelters and we need temporary foster homes for some of them. An animal may need a foster home for a variety of reasons including age, illness, injuries, and socialization, or to help provide needed space at the shelter for incoming animals. Bogart (pictured) is a current example of a pet needing a foster home. He just had his leg amputated and needs to recover for about two weeks before going up for adoption. Dogs seized from filthy conditions looking for better life Sixty dogs were removed from filthy, cramped conditions at the Eastern Montana Humane Society last week, and now 15 of those canines are in our care. As of today, one is available for adoption, and the others will be placed up for adoption after they receive proper medical care and socialization. Read more > |
Serendipitous happy tail In November 2009, I adopted a kitten named Dolce from your Quebec Street shelter. I had been in the day before with a friend who also adopted a kitten. We went back the next day to pick him up from surgery, and I saw little Dolce and fell in love. It was her first day at the shelter after being released from a foster home. So glad I went back! Purr-fectly delightful day for cat fans It was a cat-tastic celebration for 2,000 feline lovers at our second annual Catfest on July 10! Sixty-six cats and kittens found new, loving homes during the event. Plus, cat owners learned about clicker training, watched grooming demonstrations and picked up some great free goodies for their beloved companions.Read more > |
