CATS RETURN TO THE COLORADO LEGISLATURE TO GET HELP RETURNING TO THEIR LOVING HOMES
Keep Cats with Their FamiliesDid you know that up to 90 percent of cats brought to our shelter are never claimed by their owners? We want to help reconnect lost cats and their people, so the Dumb Friends League is promoting state legislation that will require cats to wear an ID tag or be microchipped. Read more about the proposed legislation we will be following during the 2010 session of the Colorado General Assembly and find out how you can help pets by contacting your elected officials. pumpkinDON’T SCARE YOUR PETS THIS HALLOWEEN
Halloween can be especially spooky for pets. The noise, costumes and trick-or-treaters may cause them to run off and get lost. The best way to protect your pets is to keep them indoors. Cats especially should be kept indoors, particularly if they are solid black or solid white. Some people are superstitious and will try to scare or harm them.

blessing of the animalsBLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
Many thanks to the 100 animals and their owners who took part in our Blessing of the Animals held in the Sheilagh R. Malo Pet Memorial Garden on October 3.  The Rev. John Bell of Wellshire Presbyterian Church honored St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals in celebration of the love we give and receive from our pets.
