ShilohSHILOH FINDS HAPPY TRAILS
Shiloh, a 13-year-old Missouri Fox Trotter, was a desperate scavenger, foraging for food on the open range along with nearly 50 other horses after being turned loose by their owner. After she was brought to our Dumb Friends League Harmony Equine Center™, Shiloh overcame some medical issues and found happy trails again.

Wag `n Trail 2012HIKE WITH YOUR HOUND AND HELP HOMELESS PETS
Follow the line of wet noses and wagging tails to the Dumb Friends League Wag `n Trail! Our 1.6-mile hike for people and their dogs takes place Saturday, Sept. 22, Wag `n Trailfrom 8 a.m. to noon at the Glendale Farm Open Space north of Castle Rock.

Following the hike, animal lovers can enjoy fun demonstrations, tasty food and pet-friendly merchandise from sponsors and vendors. There is no registration fee, but participants are encouraged to collect pledges and earn great prizes, all while helping the homeless cats, dogs and small pets at our Buddy Center in Castle Rock. THE PUBLIC VOTED, AND THE WINNERS ARE …
Thank you to all the animal lovers who entered pets, voted for pets and supported homeless pets as part of our Paw-parazzi Pet Photo Contest. Your enthusiastic participation helped us raise more than $27,000 to help the cats, dogs, small pets and horses in our care.

Check out the five fabulous photos that received the most votes in the new public voting portion of our contest. They will make an appearance in our 2013 Dumb Friends League calendar, along with the 12 cats and dogs selected as featured “Pets of the Month” by our judges. You can see all the adorable winners when the calendar goes on sale in November.

Humane EducationGOT HUMANE ED?
There’s no time like the present for children to learn about compassion, goodwill and respect for all living things. Our Humane Education department is here to help overworked teachers fit these topics into their curricula with a variety of free programs for children grades K-12.
