Luna shows her light

Mesmerizing. Bright. Captivating. Beautiful. These are all words that describe the moon, as well as one very sweet 8-month-old Border Collie named Luna. Just like the moon has phases, our Luna had some of her own, and she waxed and waned and is showing her full potential with her new human dad, Don, and canine brother, Cooper. This dynamic trio is all in and ready to handle what life has to offer.

It takes a village

The Dumb Friends League Homes with Hearts foster care program lets animal lovers bring pets from our shelters into their homes temporarily to prepare them for adoption. We know that every fostered pet has a better chance at a happier and healthier life ahead with a forever family. Last fiscal year, League foster parents, a dedicated group of volunteers who open their hearts and homes to animals in need, cared for 2,807 homeless pets, which is impressive.

Remember Tetris®? It’s a video game that, according to the official website, embraces “our universal desire to create order out of chaos.” In the game, tile puzzle pieces drop from the sky, and the player manipulates the pieces, attempting to fit them together. When they fit together properly, the pieces disappear, creating more space. So, what does this have to do with the Dumb Friends League?

Bunnies, rats and hamsters, oh my! Did you know that the League has more than just cats, dogs and horses? We currently have more than 60 small mammals in search of their forever homes! See adoptable small mammals.

Did you know that in fiscal year 2019, there were 2,807 pets in foster care, and the League had 445 incredible foster volunteers? Wow! Learn more about the League’s Homes with Hearts foster care program at ddfl.org/foster.

Make your pet a star!

You know how special your pet is, and now it’s time to let everyone else know in the 2019 Dogs of Denver & Friends coffee-table book! This limited-edition book will feature 250 of Denver’s finest dogs, cats and other small pets. For a donation you’ll receive a one-hour photo session with Sean McNeil, named 2017 Best Pet Photographer by Denver A List City voters, for a single pet, a full page with your pet’s photo and a complimentary copy of the book. Sessions must be booked before September 1. Learn more and reserve your spot.
