Junior Volunteer Club - 2nd Saturday Winter/Spring 2019
Quebec Street Shelter

Junior Volunteer Club

What is Junior Volunteer Club?
Junior Volunteer Club is an opportunity for 12 - 15 year olds to gain hands on experience volunteering at the Dumb Friends League. This is a great way to meet a community service goal or simply just to help the homeless pets in our care. Students will work alongside adult volunteers cleaning animal enclosures and socializing and working with cats, dogs, and small mammals.

A parent or guardian must attend a mandatory training during the first session with the registered child.

To allow other students an opportunity to volunteer, students may only participate in one five-month session. Registration and waivers are required.

When and where is Junior Volunteer Club held?
This Junior Volunteer Club session runs the SECOND Saturday of each month from 9-11am on January 12th, February 9th, March 9th, April 13th, and May 11th at our Quebec Street shelter in Denver.

A parent or guardian must attend a mandatory training during the first hour of the first  session on January 12th, 2019 with the registered child. There will be a graduation party during the last session on May 11th from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Families are encouraged to attend.

What should my child bring?
Please bring your completed and signed waivers to the first session’s training. Students must wear closed toed shoes, long pants, and weather appropriate clothing, as some activities will be held outside. Students will receive a Junior Volunteer Club t-shirt at training. This t-shirt identifies them as members of the club throughout the League and must be worn to each session. Parents or guardians must sign students in and out each month.

Do you allow for early drop-off or late pick up?
Sorry, we cannot accommodate early drop-off or late pick up at Junior Volunteer Club. Since we do not have an after-care license, late pick-ups after 11:10 a.m. will be charged $1/minute.

Why do I need to sign a media waiver?
We might take pictures throughout the event to use in various Dumb Friends League media publications. A media waiver is not required for participation, however your child may need to sit out of certain group pictures if you choose not to complete one.

Why does volunteering cost money?
Your registration fee enables us to cover the cost of staffing, supplies, insurance, and materials used in Junior Volunteer Club, allowing more resources and donated dollars to be utilized for the homeless pets in our care.
